Die Gesellschaft bezweckt: - die Ausrichtung von Tagungen zur Phraseologie im Abstand von maximal drei Jahren. - den Informationsaustausch über die wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten der europäischen Forschung durch ein jährliches Bulletin der Gesellschaft. Mögliche Sprachen des Bulletins sind Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch. - Berichte können auch in anderen europäischen Sprachen verfasst werden, wenn ihnen eine kurze Zusammenfassung in Deutsch, Englisch oder Französisch hinzugefügt wird. - den Informationsaustausch über die Veranstaltung von Tagungen zur Phraseologie. - die Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses und wissenschaftlicher Projekte im Bereich der Phraseologie. - die Förderung der internationalen Zusammenarbeit mit der Phraseologieforschung innerhalb und ausserhalb Europas. - den Kontakt zu anderen wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaften.
