Die Stiftung führt unter diesem Namen ein vom Bundesamt für Sozialversicherung (BSV) und der Gesundheits- und Fürsorgedirektion des Kantons Bern (GEF) anerkanntes Behindertenzentrum. Im SAZ Burgdorf finden vor allem geistig-, zum Teil auch körper-, psychisch- oder lernbehinderte sowie sinnesbeeinträchtigte Menschen der Region Aufnahme, die wegen ihrer Behinderung sonderpädagogisch gefördert oder beruflich abgeklärt werden müssen, einen geschützten Ausbildungs- oder Arbeitsplatz benötigen oder nicht selbständig wohnen können. Die Stiftung hat gemeinnützigen Charakter. Die Stiftung kann Liegenschaften erwerben, mieten oder veräussern sowie andere Geschäfte tätigen, die dem Zweck oder der Weiterentwicklung dienlich sind.
