Die Stiftung bezweckt unter Ausschluss von eigentlichen Erwerbs- und Selbsthilfezwecken die Unterstützung von Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden sowie von Assistierenden der ETH-Zürich in sozialen Härtefällen. Ausnahmsweise können auch einzelne private gemeinnützige Institutionen und Organisationen durch die Ausrichtung von einmaligen oder wiederkehrenden Zuwendungen zur Förderung der allgemeinen Wohlfahrt unterstützt werden. Die Stiftung beschränkt ihre Tätigkeit in der Regel auf Personen mit Wohnsitz im Kanton Zürich.
